I’m a dynamic and collaborative
Technical Project Manager
with a relentless determination to improve people’s quality of life.

Over the years of designing and implementing Healthcare Information Technology solutions I’ve experienced an abundance of learning opportunities. From the challenges physicians struggle with on a day to day basis, to what successful oversight of boundary-expanding new capability initiatives looks like. How large-scale project management isn’t a daunting impossible task, and what seamless technical integration can achieve for those around us.

I wonder what I’ll learn next.

Project Highlight

Wave Carson

The largest project delivered in Cerner Corporation’s history and I was fortunate enough to be at the helm as the technical project manager. We deployed better healthcare solutions at 25 facilities, across 11 states, supporting 10,000+ end users, impacting over 600,000 patients. All on a single day in April 2021.

This was an unprecedented project for an unprecedented time. We had to reimagine every element of existing deployment strategies and methodologies to account for scale. While we were building up a world, ours around us was falling apart due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Navigating the daily twists and turns, adapting to the current situations needs, and being able communicate solutions quickly to an enterprise audience was paramount for success. There was a surplus of lessons learned along the way, both professional and personal, and I am grateful that I can apply these experiences towards future efforts. Happy to report on April 24th,2021 we accomplished our goal and Military Health Systems Genesis was deployed. As the primary issue resolution manager during the “Go Live” period I am overjoyed that there wasn’t a challenge the team couldn’t overcome. The scale might have been bigger, but together we were better.

There’s 206 acres in Texas that often occupies my thoughts. It’s a magical barrier-free environment that I was lucky enough to get to experience.

Camp for All is non-profit organization that transforms the lives of children and adults with special needs and/or challenging illnesses. My journey with Camp starting in 2010 as a volunteer and quickly moved towards becoming a staff member until 2015. I’m thankful for all the early mornings, late nights, and long weekends spent working towards helping others discover life.

Key Takeaways

Leadership
The work at Camp taught me what it meant to be a leader and helped me refine my own approach. Presented with various situations for both direct and indirect leadership daily, it was an incredible opportunity for learning. A typical day could include organizing and facilitating small group activities in the morning. Developing a comprehensive plan to coordinate 30 staff members schedules in the afternoon. Then applying it to effectively lead programs with 300+ individuals across three partner non-profit organizations.
Diversity & Inclusion
The organization’s goal is to make sure that every single activity offered is available to every single individual. How do we ensure each person who travels to Camp feels that they have a home there. This inspired a culture of developing creative solutions to challenging questions that I fully embraced. For example: What does riding a zip-line look like for individuals at various mobility levels?

Behave with Integrity
There are no days, and in this case no nights, off when you are living on facility with your co-workers for months at a time. Trustworthiness, Honesty, and Respect in your actions was imperative to building meaningful connections.
Integrity meant always performing your responsibilities to the best of your ability and being someone that could always be counted on to support those around you.
